PI-CASC, with its partner Hawaiʻi Sea Grant and other university and government partners, conducted a series of conversations focused on sea-level rise, bringing together focus groups from university and government science and resource management organizations to address ongoing and emerging science information needs while maximizing shared capacity and avoiding duplication of efforts.

Five students completed projects in climate adaptation science for the 2022 SURF program, investigating fire-prone invasive grasses, spillover effects of Marine Protected Areas, shifts in estuarine fish biodiversity, optimal regeneration conditions for koa, and effects of marine warming on different phytoplankton strains.
The Science to Management and Policy Professional Development Workshop for PI-CASC Scholars is set for March 2, 2022 HST / March 3, 2022 CHST.
Our March “Slice of PI-CASC” seminar will be presented by Dr. Kasey Barton, Associate Professor at UH Mānoa, who will discuss resilience of coastal plants against sea-level rise.
