U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center

Helen Sofaer is a Research Ecologist at the U.S. Geological Survey Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center. She is a quantitative ecologist studying global change, with a focus on invasive species. Her research spans the stages of invasion, and includes work to inform prevention strategies, design biosurveillance efforts, predict non-native species’ distributions and abundance, and quantify invasive species’ impacts on native biodiversity. She has also conducted ecological climate change impacts assessments, and studied ecological uncertainty under climate change.
