Jeremy Gooding
Jeremy was raised in Waimānalo, located in the Koʻolaupoko district on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. He has worked primarily in Hawaiian conservation biology, starting in the early 1990’s, volunteering for a leading natural resource management program. His experience spans vegetation management and invasive plants, development of novel weed treatments and methods, feral ungulate monitoring and control, restoration and revegetation, biosecurity and sanitation, specialized helicopter use, and wildland fire. He has actively engaged in collaborative programs, partnerships, and solutions to address conservation land management challenges that transcend jurisdictional boundaries. Jeremy joined a US Forest Service team in 2024, launching a program dedicated to Hawaiʻi and the Pacific Islands with a focus on fire ecology and climate. Initial priorities include identifying gaps where his group can serve as a catalyst, connecting programs and people. The goal is to better position our island communities to adapt to an evolving landscape and conditions.
