Attend “Kaiāulu: Rising together” at Capital Modern

Join the Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission for the opening of “Kaiāulu: Rising together,” a showcase of original artwork focusing on climate change issues and engaging the Climate Action Pathways in Hawai‘i by four talented local artists.

When: Gallery Opening: Saturday, October 4, 1-4 p.m., reception and Q & A with artists.

Where: Capitol Modern, 250 South Hotel St., Honolulu, HI 96813

At the gallery opening, you will have the opportunity to meet the artists and immerse yourself in artwork that focuses on various aspects of climate resilience, including land stewardship, energy efficiency, cultural knowledge, transportation decarbonization, and community resilience.

Artwork on display was created by Gillian Dueñas, Benjamin Fairfield, Keisha Tanaka, and Erin Voss, who were selected to participate in the prestigious Climate Artist in Residence program by the Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC) in partnership with Capitol Modern and the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program.

This project aligns with the CCMAC’s mission to promote ambitious, climate-neutral, and culturally responsive strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation in Hawaiʻi.
